In a heartwarming display of appreciation, the Atlanta Hawks continued their tradition of honoring military personnel at the annual ‘Crowning Courage’ event, presented in collaboration with Crown Royal. This year marked the eighth consecutive season of the event, where over 200 active and retired military members and their guests were treated to a special evening at State Farm Arena.
Ahead of the game against Portland, Hawks’ Season Ticket Members generously donated their courtside and club seats, ensuring that these deserving individuals could enjoy a memorable NBA experience. The festivities began with a private reception attended by the honored guests, Hawks Season Ticket Members, and notable figures like Atlanta Hawks Principal Owner Jami Gertz and Hawks Legend Dominique Wilkins.
Expressing her gratitude, Jami Gertz stated, “Their courage, selflessness, and service are of the utmost admiration, and we feel grateful to have an opportunity to provide an exceptional evening for them at a Hawks game.”
During the reception, the military personnel received special gifts, including custom ‘Crowning Courage’ pullover jackets and bucket hats, courtesy of Crown Royal. The event featured a moving keynote address by General (R) Paul Funk II, a distinguished military leader known for his significant contributions and achievements.
In addition to recognizing the veterans, a special gallery honored African-American Vietnam veterans, highlighting their impactful stories. The evening concluded with a surprise announcement from Crown Royal, offering a deserving veteran a “This Deserves a Crown with Kane Brown” Super VIP Experience at an upcoming show.
The halftime entertainment featured a performance by the United States Air Force (USAF) Band of the West, adding to the patriotic atmosphere of the event. As the Hawks continue this tradition, they reaffirm their commitment to honoring those who have bravely served their country.
