In a move that provides a significant boost to the Seattle Seahawks’ offseason plans, veteran cornerback Mike Jackson has agreed to restructure his contract, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Under the new agreement, Jackson will receive a league-minimum base salary of $1.055 million along with a signing bonus of $167,500. This restructuring drops his cap number to $1.22 million, freeing up approximately $1.89 million in cap space for the Seahawks.
Originally signed as a restricted free agent, Jackson had previously accepted a tender worth $3.116 million. However, this reworked deal not only benefits the Seahawks financially but also provides Jackson with some upfront guaranteed money.
A fifth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2019, Jackson has been a part of the Seahawks since 2021. Despite starting four games last season, his role saw a reduction compared to the previous year when he started all 17 games.
