Man City starlet Tommy Doyle spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and helped earn them promotion.
The Blades now have new hope that they may get midfielder Tommy Doyle back to south Yorkshire after his declaration that he “loved being” at Sheffield United.
Doyle, a recent graduate of Man City academy, helped Sheffield United return to the Premier League while on loan there last year. The aggressive midfielder participated in 38 games, creating seven assists and scoring four goals. He even scored the game-winning goal in the FA Cup quarterfinal to advance to the semifinal against his parent club.
Doyle has previously been close to Pep Guardiola’s first team, but this summer he was left at home rather than going on the squad’s preseason tour of Asia. Which suggests he isn’t in the manager’s plans for the upcoming campaign. He has a deal with City that lasts until 2025. But he’ll probably leave again this summer, either on a temporary loan or permanently.
The 21-year-old’s recent admiration of the team will provide the Blades motivation to get him back to Bramall Lane.
He told
“It [was] priceless. You’re always apprehensive of going to new places and there are always nerves, but the lads, the staff and everyone were amazing.”
I couldn’t believe it, and I was overjoyed to get promoted. I only want to express my gratitude to Hecky, the manager, and Sheffield United for including me.
The guys there are fantastic and have a tonne of expertise, which is exactly what you need. A perfect combination of brave youth and experienced minds, in my opinion, greatly aided us.
There was a sense of respect there for the guys and what they’ve accomplished in the league. Despite the fact that I’ve always claimed to be confident in my own abilities and ability to join teams.
