At the Hungarian GP, filming for Apple’s F1 movie starring Brad Pitt is still going on. Albeit in a modified format due to the American labour strike.
Pitt’s made-up 11th team is represented in the Formula One paddock for the second straight race.
The APXGP team and its vehicle had their “public” premiere in the British GP, and their paddock setup is once again in action in Hungary. Pitt will portray an older F1 driver who comes out of retirement to compete with a novice in the movie.
The Hungaroring has a complete garage and pitwall setup, as well as a hospitality facility and a filmmaking station.
The second race to use the lifelike, fully functional props while filming in a real paddock was always intended to be this one.
Contrary to untrue allegations, filming for the production has not stopped because of US strike action.
Hollywood movie actors and other media professionals are represented by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). A labour union with about 160,000 members.
Their strike, which is similar to that of the Writers Guild of America, is mostly focused on base pay for residuals (such as reruns, syndication, or streaming). As well as worries about being supplanted or undercut by artificial intelligence-powered digital recreations of themselves.
In Hungary, there will probably be more on-track filming, but stand-ins will handle this.
The cars were mostly driven by experts during the filming during the British GP as well. However Pitt did drive one of the sessions himself.
