The Washington Wizards have unveiled their roster for the 2023 NBA Summer League. Where they will kick off their first game against the Indiana Pacers on July 8. Headlining the team are their last two first-round draft picks. Bilal Coulibaly (2023) and Johnny Davis (2022), along with Tristan Vukcevic, their second-round pick from this year. Also joining them are Quenton Jackson and Xavier Cooks. Who made their NBA debuts with the Wizards last season.
Taking charge as the team’s coach is Landon Tatum. Who previously served as an assistant for the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ G League affiliate. Tatum has been a part of the Wizards organization for six years, having worked in various coaching capacities.
Coulibaly, a mere 18 years old, was the seventh overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft. He represents the first selection made by the Wizards’ new front office led by Monumental Basketball president Michael Winger and general manager Will Dawkins. The Summer League will provide an opportunity for Coulibaly to make his initial impression in a Wizards uniform. The team plans to utilize him as a primary ball-handler to assess his development as a playmaker, potentially influencing his role in the rotation when the NBA season commences.

A Promising Roster Set to Make an Impact in the NBA Summer League
Attention will also be focused on Davis, who is participating in his second Summer League. Last year, Davis faced challenges adjusting from college to the professional level while contending with lower back tightness. Having experienced significant growth during his college career, transforming from a role player to winning the Big 10 Player of the Year award and being selected 10th overall in the NBA Draft, the Summer League will serve as a gauge of his progress over the past year.
Additionally, Jackson and Cooks will have the chance to show that they have improved since their prior encounters with the Wizards. Last year, Jackson was a key member of the team’s Summer League squad. They now have a chance to demonstrate how much they have changed and improved since their final game with the Wizards in the spring at this forthcoming event.
