After a stunning performance in the match against Punjab Kings, where he scored a match-winning 77 runs, Virat Kohli took a moment to share insights into his recent two-month break from cricket. This hiatus coincided with the birth of his second child with wife Anushka Sharma, during which Kohli missed India’s home Test series against England.
“It was a surreal experience,” Kohli expressed during the post-match presentation ceremony. “Being away from the limelight, not being recognized, just spending quality time together as a family—it was incredible.”
Kohli cherished the opportunity to bond with his family, especially his older child, emphasizing the joy of simply feeling “normal” for those two months. He particularly enjoyed the anonymity of being treated as just another person on the street, away from the constant attention of being a celebrity.

Returning to the spotlight felt overwhelming initially, with Kohli admitting, “I was just not used to being called my name for two months.” Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for the love and support he receives from fans, particularly those of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he has been a stalwart since the IPL’s inception.
Addressing the ever-evolving nature of T20 cricket, Kohli acknowledged the need to adapt his game. He discussed making tactical adjustments to counter bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement.
Despite the changes in his approach, Kohli humorously reminded everyone, “I’ve still got it, I guess,” reaffirming his enduring talent and passion for the game.
