Kerr clarified, “I have no problems with officials themselves. All across the league, we have really good officials. I have a problem with the way we are legislating defense out of the game.” He expressed frustration with the emphasis on enabling players to manipulate calls and create a “parade to the free-throw line,” deeming it “disgusting” for fans.
Steph Curry, understanding Kerr’s perspective, added, “It does cater to the guys that can sell calls.” He highlighted the inconsistency in officiating, especially regarding physicality, which varies from game to game. Curry stressed the importance of consistency for defenders and acknowledged the frustrating impact on the game’s flow.
Both Kerr and Curry raised valid concerns about NBA officiating, prompting curiosity about potential responses from the league.
