It appears that the Qatari prince is now establishing the negotiation timeframes.
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar has given Manchester United till today to accept or reject his fifth and ostensibly last offer to purchase the team.
The Qatari royal family member has reportedly submitted a fifth revised offer to buy Manchester United for £6 billion, matching the asking price set by the Glazers.
Sheikh Jassim’s latest proposal to buy Manchester United included an ultimatum: the owners must accept his offer by Friday, 8 June, or he will withdraw. This was meant to expedite the negotiations as Sheikh Jassim grew frustrated with the lengthy bidding process.
Sheikh Jassim has set a deadline for the Glazers to make a decision by the end of the week to avoid further delays and potential bidding rounds. If his fifth bid is accepted, he will no longer participate in the process, as stated by his bidding team.
Potential Investment and Remaining Bidders
The sheikh’s proposed takeover of Manchester United includes plans to pay off the club’s projected debts of just under £1 billion and invest a significant amount in the development of the team and stadium. While the exact net worth of the sheikh is unknown, it is believed that his family’s wealth amounts to approximately £275 billion.
The remaining bidders for the club are Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS Group. Their most recent offer reportedly involves acquiring a controlling stake in the team while allowing the Glazers to retain a minority stake.
