Contrary to initial reports, hamstring injury of Lionel Messi appears to be more severe than initially thought. The Argentine missed the game against Bolivia during the international break due to this injury and returned to Miami with a one-inch muscle tear. Discover Martino worried about Lionel Messi injury.
Coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino allowed Messi to resume training but kept him isolated during Tuesday’s session. After the training, instead of reassuring concerned fans, Martino expressed further worries. It had been previously mentioned that Messi was dealing with pain from an old injury scar. Martino explained that pushing Messi too hard could potentially reopen this scar, leading to a more serious problem.

Martino’s Pre-Training Statement on Messi’s Condition
Martino shared his thoughts with reporters before Tuesday’s training session, stating, “Regarding Messi, it’s consistent with what we’ve been discussing lately. We’ll assess whether he can train without any risks, and we’ll decide if it’s appropriate for him to travel. He should start training with the team. It could be today or tomorrow (it was today). The challenge is that the match is tomorrow. He might participate in today’s warm-up, but his training will be adjusted based on his current condition. The team will have a lighter training session, following their recent routine. Messi is closer to a regular training day, and that’s why we’re monitoring his progress daily.”
Martino also emphasized the potential danger associated with Messi’s old injury scar, which is located in his hamstring. He added, “The scar increases the risk of a new muscle tear, which could lead to a more severe problem. It’s concerning, especially given his commitment to both his national team and his club. This was something he acknowledged earlier, and the club was aware of it, considering we have 12 call-ups now, not just Messi. ‘Tata’ also noted that he couldn’t provide a precise timeline for Messi’s full recovery, adding uncertainty to the situation.
