Romelu Lukaku travels to Saudi Arabia after contract offer

The Chelsea striker, who spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Inter, Romelu Lukaku travels to Saudi Arabia after contract offer on Monday to meet with representatives of Al-Hilal. The Saudi club has extended a two-year, €50 million (£43 million/$54 million) contract to Lukaku.

After his loan agreement with Inter expired, Lukaku was scheduled to return to Chelsea. The Italian powerhouses reportedly lack the money to sign him on a permanent basis, and incoming Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly willing to give the striker another shot at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku would be extremely willing to transfer to Al-Hilal. However, the 30-year-old will first try to negotiate a higher wage with the team because he wants to be well compensated if he decides to forgo playing in Europe.

If Chelsea reach a deal with Lukaku, Al-Hilal will need to engage in direct talks with the club. The Blues are willing to sell in order to cut their roster ahead of the new season, but they will demand a price above €50 million.

Lukaku’s Potential Move to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East Trend

The Chelsea attacker has stated his wish to stay at Inter, but it seems unlikely that the Italian giants would be able to do so for another season, so Romelu Lukaku travels to Saudi Arabia after contract offer. Inter reached the 2022–23 Champions League final but lost to Manchester City by a score of 1-0. Lukaku may find the allure of riches in Saudi Arabia too powerful to resist, especially in light of Ronaldo’s record-breaking departure to Al-Nassr in December, which opened the door for other prominent players to play in the Middle East. Karim Benzema, a former teammate of Ronaldo’s, joined Al-Ittihad after leaving Real Madrid, and N’Golo Kante, a player currently with Chelsea, is on the verge of joining the Saudi Pro League champions as well.
