Lionel Messi immediate future: no loan moves and no vacation

Despite recent speculations that emerged following his team’s elimination from the MLS playoffs, Lionel Messi, along with his club Inter Miami, is not currently considering a loan move to another club or taking a break. Some rumors had suggested that Lionel Messi might go on loan to Barcelona in the future or another team during the months when Inter Miami has no fixtures, which would be from now until the commencement of the 2024 MLS season. Discover Lionel Messi immediate future: no loan moves and no vacation.

Although the MLS schedule for 2024 has not been officially released yet, it typically starts in late February or early March, similar to this year’s commencement on February 25. These rumors hinted at a potential five-month loan period, but this is not the case.

Messi’s MLS Season Timeline

Inter Miami still has two regular league games in the MLS: one on October 18 and the other on October 21, with the latter being a postponed match. Consequently, Messi’s MLS season concludes on October 21, but his obligations to Inter Miami persist as the team continues training, and there might even be plans for some exhibition matches to conclude the season.

Moreover, Messi also has four additional commitments with the Argentine national team in 2023. These include upcoming matches against Paraguay and Peru, which Messi will be focusing on immediately. In November, the Albiceleste has another set of World Cup qualifier matches against Uruguay and Brazil, with the highly anticipated South American Clasico taking place on November 21. This means that while Messi may take a break, it won’t be an extended one.

In January, Inter Miami eagerly awaits Messi’s return to resume training as they aim for a full and competitive season, in contrast to the current season, where the late arrivals of Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets had posed challenges. Furthermore, there is the possibility that Inter Miami may participate in the ConcaChampions before the start of the MLS 2024 season, as this tournament has previously commenced shortly before the regular season kickoff. There are no immediate plans for a transfer to another club or for an extended vacation in Lionel Messi’s agenda.
