A Kansas City, Missouri resident finds himself in legal trouble after being accused of stealing over $45,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins.
The incident, which occurred on January 14, involved breaking into a box truck belonging to the Dolphins, as reported by court and police records. The theft was discovered the day following the Dolphins’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL playoffs’ Wild Card round.
Joseph Brown, Sr. has been charged with a Class C felony by Jackson County prosecutors in Missouri. The charges were brought to light by local news outlet FOX 4 in Kansas City. Among the stolen items were crucial equipment for both players and media personnel, including cold weather gear, game film, pads, gloves, and shoes, totaling an estimated value of $46,376.
Surveillance footage aided investigators in identifying a Ford F-150 truck linked to the theft. According to court documents reviewed by FOX 4, Brown had been under surveillance since October due to suspicions of involvement in various vehicle and trailer thefts in the Kansas City area. Notably, Brown has a previous conviction for theft dating back to 2021.
