Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant finds himself in hot water once more as the challenges mount for him in IPL 2024. Despite showcasing his prowess with a stellar half-century, Pant couldn’t salvage a win for his team, leading to their second loss of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Adding to Pant’s woes, the BCCI announced a fine of INR 24 Lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate during the game, marking his second breach of the Code of Conduct this season. His earlier infraction occurred against the Chennai Super Kings at the same venue.
As a consequence of Pant’s repeated offense, the rest of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, faced individual fines of INR 6 Lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lesser.

Of greater concern is the looming threat of a one-match ban if Pant commits another slow over-rate offense, posing a significant setback for Delhi Capitals’ campaign to redeem themselves in the league.
The team’s recent bowling performance against KKR, where they conceded a massive 272 runs, underscores the need for improvement, particularly within the bowling unit. With star spinner Kuldeep Yadav sidelined due to injury for the past two games, his return could bolster Delhi’s chances in upcoming fixtures.
Despite Pant’s commendable effort with the bat, scoring 55 off 25 deliveries, Delhi’s top-order collapse hindered their pursuit of KKR’s imposing total.
As Delhi Capitals gear up for their next challenge against Mumbai Indians on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium, they must address their bowling vulnerabilities and strive for a much-needed turnaround in the IPL 2024 season.
