The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule for India has been revealed. That will including the announcement of 10 venues for the tournament. Spanning across 46 days later this year, the World Cup commences on October 5. The matches between England and New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. India, the host nation, begins their campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai. A total of 10 teams will participate, with the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The remaining two spots will be determined at the end of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, concluding on July 9.
The tournament follows a round-robin format where each team plays nine matches, and the top four teams progress to the knockout stage and semi-finals. In addition to the captivating opening match and India’s showdown with Australia, the schedule includes several significant matches.
Australia will face South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow, seeking a different outcome than their previous dramatic encounter, which ended in favor of the Proteas.
Fans can look forward to the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash on October 15 in Ahmedabad, expecting a high-scoring encounter similar to their match in the 2019 World Cup.
Pakistan will meet Australia in Bengaluru on October 20, and England will face South Africa the next day in Mumbai.
Important Matches and Venues
India will confront New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamsala, seeking to avenge their 2019 semi-final defeat. On November 4, Australia will play against their arch-rivals, England, in Ahmedabad, recalling their dominant performance against them in the previous edition.
The tournament will take place across 10 venues, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Additionally, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, alongside Hyderabad, will host the warm-up matches from September 29 to October 3.
