On Saturday, David de Gea announced his departure from Manchester United after a 12-year stint. Stating that it is the appropriate moment to embark on a fresh challenge. The Spanish goalkeeper, who received the Premier League Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets last season. He faced criticism for several notable errors towards the end of the campaign.

Taking to social media, the 32-year-old expressed gratitude towards United fans for their support. But explained that the time has come for him to seek new surroundings and push himself once again. De Gea emphasized that Manchester will always hold a special place in his heart. As it has played a crucial role in shaping him.
De Gea wrote:
“I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.
I took incredible pride every time I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honor only bestowed upon a few lucky footballers.”
Following the expiration of De Gea’s contract last Friday, United initially stated that negotiations with the Spanish international were ongoing. However, subsequent reports suggested that De Gea had initially agreed to a contract extension. Only for the club to retract their offer and propose reduced terms instead.
