Alvaro Morata brace gives Atletico Madrid bragging rights with derby win over Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s flawless beginning to the LaLiga EA Sports season came to an end courtesy of their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, who claimed an impressive 3-1 victory at the Metropolitano on Sunday night. Discover Alvaro Morata brace gives Atletico Madrid bragging rights with derby win over Real Madrid.

The home team wasted no time in surging to a two-goal lead in just 18 minutes. Although Real Madrid reduced the deficit before half-time with Toni Kroos scoring, Alvaro Morata and his second goal for Atletico Madrid after the break extinguished any hopes of a comeback, as Diego Simeone’s squad controlled the game from there.

Atletico Madrid made a fantastic start by opening the scoring after only four minutes. Lino’s right-footed cross from the left found the head of Alvaro Morata, who powered his header into the bottom of the net.

Even though Real Madrid held possession after that goal, it was the home team that extended their lead in the 18th minute. Los Blancos narrowed the gap 10 minutes before half-time with a thunderous strike from Kroos that left Jan Oblak with no chance.

Real Madrid found the back of the net again before the break when Eduardo Camavinga fired home a rebound, but the goal was disallowed due to Antonio Rudiger being in an offside position.

Alvaro Morata and Atletico Madrid’s Strong Second-Half Start

Just like in the first half, Atletico started the second half strongly and scored a third goal less than a minute after the restart. Saul’s well-placed cross from the left found Morata, who headed in for his second goal, restoring Atletico’s two-goal lead.

Although Real Madrid controlled possession thereafter, it was the home team who came closest to scoring a fourth, but Hermoso’s looping header hit the crossbar.

Despite their best efforts, the visitors were unable to breach Atletico’s defense from that point on, with the home side closing out the match and earning three points to move into fifth place. As for Real Madrid, they now sit in third place with 15 points, trailing league leaders Barcelona by two points.
